Students across the Wakefield district are today finding out their results in their GCSE examinations.
Cllr Olivia Rowley, Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: "Congratulations to all those who are receiving their GCSEs results today. I hope all the hard work and support done by the students, their teachers and their families, is paying off today.
"GCSEs provide the platform for progress into further education and training and I wish all our students today the very best of luck for the future.
"For those who may not have achieved all they wished, teachers will be on hand in schools to discuss their options.
Wakefield Council Chief Executive Joanne Roney OBE said: "I too congratulate all the students getting their GCSE results today. We are ambitious for all our young in the district and are working hard with our partners in education and training to help them use both their A level and GCSE results to get off to a good start in working life.
"Good qualifications are essential and we are doing all we can to support good people to achieve and realise their potential. All the exam results from this month are being collated and a report will be prepared to see what levels of attainment are being achieved across the district so we can pinpoint our efforts into making sure young people have equality of opportunity and get the best services we and our partners can provide."
