Adult education courses – sign up now!
PR ref 5025
Whether you are looking to improve your skills, take a vocational course or start a new hobby, Wakefield Council's Adult Education Service has over 500 courses to help you on your way.
Adult learners can join many courses with confidence after the Council's adult education was nationally accredited for its information, advice and guidance.
The Adult Education Service is committed to supporting learners and helping to raise skill levels. Courses range from childcare, business administration, maths and English to ceramics, sewing and willow making and lots more.
The Service also offers support to employers to improve the skills of their workforce offering vocational qualifications up to level 3 and can help with the recruitment and training of apprentices.
Cllr Olivia Rowley, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "Sign up to an adult education course to learn something new, improve your skills and increase your employment chances. There are a wide-range of courses with places still available and the training takes place at over 30 centres across the district. Many courses are starting this September so now is a great time to find out what's available. You can contact the team or visit the Council website to find out more."
Some courses may be free to people who are not in work or on low incomes to encourage as many people as possible to sign up for a course. The Service also offers one to one support if needed, help with study skills and progression advice.
It is also easy to enrol on one of the courses by visiting the adult education website at www.wakefield.gov.uk/adulteducation or you can drop into your local centre to pick up the new brochure or ask advice.
