Come along to Room on the Broom event
We are inviting children and families to come and take part in a new book themed trail.
The trail will take people across Anglers Country Park on a special themed walk and is based on the bestselling children's picture book, Room on the Broom, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
It will begin at the visitor centre and follow a route around the lake giving youngsters the chance to see sculptures of Witch, Cat, Dog, Bird, Frog and Dragon. Families can buy an explorers pack at the visitor centre, which includes information about fun and games on the route. There will also be a range of interactive activities for children to enjoy as well as the chance to look out for animal footprints.
A launch event will take place on World Book Day on Thursday 5 March from 9.30am with children from Ryhill Primary School attending. The trail will then be open to the public.
Cllr Les Shaw, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport said: "This trail will give young people a great chance to get creative and enjoy all their favourite characters from this popular adventure book.
"There will be many activities and interactive games for children to enjoy, along with a story book reading and a walk led by the witch at the launch event. With so much happening, make sure you don't miss the trail and come down to enjoy what we have on offer."
