Council and partners host online chat

The Council in partnership with the police will be hosting a live Facebook chat to listen to the views of residents.

Councillors from the Wakefield Central area in wards 16 and 17 and local police officers will be online Facebook on Tuesday December 2 between 6.30pm – 8pm.

Cllr Maureen Cummings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Communities said: "We want to engage with local people and understand how we can continue to make our services more effective for the needs of the community.

"With the use of social media increasing, Facebook gives us an ideal opportunity to host this live chat, especially as residents' lead very busy lives and I hope everybody will have their questions ready."

Inspector Ian Williams, from West Yorkshire Police said "Neighbourhood police teams and their partners have always sought to engage with local residents at every opportunity.

"Recent Facebook chats have proven to be very valuable for us and for those members of the public who have taken part. With local Councillors joining us, I am expecting this to be a very worthwhile event."

Wakefield Central Councillors Olivia Rowley, Ros Lund and Margaret Isherwood along with Inspector Ian Williams will take part in the live Facebook chat.

Residents can join the chat on the Wakefield Central Facebook via Local people can also like the page now which will mean they will receive a prompt when the chat goes live on Tuesday.
