Council supports small businesses

Date: 24/11/2014

Residents are being encouraged to shop and support small businesses in the district at an annual event backed by the Council.

Small Business Saturday is on 6 December 2014, and aims to help local businesses build on trade throughout the Christmas shopping period.

Cllr Peter Box, Leader of Wakefield Council said: "We are dedicated to championing small businesses and once again we are working to support our local economy and help bring more development opportunities to the district.

"We want Wakefield to be a thriving area for entrepreneurs and businesses to grow and expand and this event is a great way to encourage more people to shop in the district and see what fantastic products and services we have on offer."

The annual event complements activities of the Wakefield Business Support Programme, an initiative launched in 2013, which is focused on supporting small local businesses. It aims to create jobs and growth, ensure new business sustainability and support small and medium sized businesses to prosper.
