Council work to improve Normanton Market

PR 4772
10 November 2014

Wakefield Council has scheduled a set of new works to help improve Normanton Market and bring more shoppers to the town.

Works will include repositioning market stalls, improved signage on Queens Street as well as the replacement of old stalls and introduction of themed market activities such as charity stalls on the third Saturday of every month, costing just £5.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills said: “We want to help Normanton Market develop and grow, and these plans will attract new shoppers to the area.

“These proposals will bring both development and infrastructure improvements to Normanton as well as boosting our local economy and environment. I am looking forward to the work starting.”

Work is set to begin with the installation of new signage on November 19.
