Council supports youth groups
New funding has become available for voluntary community youth groups in the Wakefield District.
Wakefield Council is distributing funds from a Government grant of up to £3,000 to local groups to help them grow and offer a range of positive activities for young people in the area.
Cllr Olivia Rowley, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: "I am pleased our Youth Services are able to access this new funding to help continue to provide worthwhile and valuable activities for our youngsters across the district.
"This grant is even more important for youth groups especially as the funding streams available are being reduced and we are thrilled we can support groups as a part of our ongoing commitment to young people in the area."
Funding is being distributed by Wakefield Youth Services in partnership with Young Lives in recognition of the contribution that voluntary partners make. This scheme is part of the Integrated Early Help Offer programme.
Groups who work with young people aged 8 - 19 or up to 25 with additional needs, are being invited to submit an application form via the Council website.
Applications are open from Monday 3 November at 9.00am, closing on Friday 21 November at 4pm.
