Residents thanked for having their say at South Elmsall market

Date: 15/10/14

Residents in South Elmsall have been thanked for taking part in Wakefield Council's HaveYour Say event.

The initiative at South Elmsall Market, on October 10 and 11, gave people the chance to talk to councillors and council officers and to share their thoughts and views on the council and its work.

Cllr Denise Jeffrey, Cabinet Member for  Economic Growrh and Skills, at Wakefield Council, said: "I would like to thank everyone who came down to the market, or took a break from their shopping, to meet their councillors and council officers.

"It was really good to hear what people think and their ideas for the council, our policies and services. This information is very valuable and it helps us, as councillors, to stay in touch with the views of people in our district."

Some residents, who attended on the day, submitted specific requests for information. These requests have been picked up and will be responded to by staff working in the appropriate area concerning the inquiry.

Some residents made suggestions on how services could be improved and these suggestions will be shared across the Council.

The Have Your Say event is part of Council plans to ensure that it is engaging regularly with residents across the district and is hearing their views. Dates for future events will be announced.
