New “Have Your Say” event launched at South Elmsall market
Residents in South Elmsall are being urged to take part in a new Wakefield Council initiative which aims to give people more opportunities to engage with the Council.
The Council is launching its new Have Your Say event at South Elmsall market, on Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11 from 10am to 4pm.
It will give people the chance to meet and talk to councillors and council officers and to share their thoughts and views on the council and its work.
Cllr Peter Box, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "I'd like to encourage as many people as possible to come down to the market, or take a break from their shopping, to meet their councillors and council officers.
"It is very important that we hear what people think as we want to know as many views and thoughts as possible on the council, our policies and services.
"So I'd like to ask residents to spare some of their time and come and talk to us."
In the coming months councillors and council officers will be visiting other parts of the district to hold similar events.
The Have Your Say event is part of Council plans to ensure that it is engaging regularly with residents across the district and is hearing their views.
The initiative follows on from the Cabinet on Tour events, where some of the Council's Cabinet meetings are taking place in different parts of the district. They will be holding their meeting on Monday (September 29) at Pontefract Town Hall and dates for future meetings will be announced soon.
