Council supports businesses to grow online

Date: 03/09/2014

We are encouraging local businesses to access faster broadband services and free advice to learn how to grow their online business presence.

The event which takes place on Thursday October 9, is part of the Superfast West Yorkshire Business Support Programme which offers free business support with advice to help save time, money and improve efficiency.

Master classes will be offered as a part of the full day event, including looking specifically at social media for business and online networking which will be eligible for businesses across the Wakefield District and beyond.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to develop their current skills and knowledge which will differeniate them in the current competitive market.

"The free event will offer a variety of classes to suit everyone's needs and I urge businesses across the district to sign up and reap the rewards of this scheme."

Beth Hewitt Project Manager for the Business Support Programme stated "Feedback so far has been fantastic and we'd like as many businesses as possible across the region to benefit whilst the funding is available"

To date over 200 small businesses from across West Yorkshire have already accessed the programme, with aims to support many more. The support fully funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the 5 West Yorkshire Councils and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport allows the programme to offer free service to eligible businesses across the region.
