Wakefield Council is welcoming residents to a Love Where You Live Event at Southern Washlands Nature Reserve on Saturday July 26 at meeting at 10.30am at Harrisons Bridge.

The Council in partnership with Wakefield and District Housing and West Yorkshire Police is joining forces with the local community to clear litter and cut back overgrown paths and is looking for volunteers to help on the day.

Cllr Maureen Cummings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Communities said: "We are pleased to be working with our partners and local residents to help clean up Southern Washlands.

"Our district has many lovely landscapes and must continue to look after our surroundings to have pride in our community. This is part of the popular Love Where You Live event and I urge all residents to come and help improve their local environment."

Tools and gloves will be provided – and residents are encouraged to bring a packed lunch for a picnic afterwards.
