The seaside returns to Wakefield

Ref: PR 4641
Date: 14/07/2014

Get your flips flops ready and sharpen up your sandcastle making skills for a weekend of fun as the seaside makes an exciting return to Wakefield this August.

We are holding the free family event in the Cathedral Precinct on Saturday August 16 10am –5pm and Sunday August 17, 10am-4pm.

The weekend will provide entertainment for all with a big beach, donkey rides, Punch and Judy, live music, sand art and windmill making workshops, pedal boats, a Victorian carousel and deck chairs, along with a whole host of street entertainment including Dame Candy Floss and a food and craft market. There's also a real treat for children as Change4Life are bringing along their interactive Disney roadshow on the Saturday.

Cllr Les Shaw, Cabinet member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: "This will be a truly fun-filled weekend for everyone with so many different activities happening appealing to people of different ages.

"We may be far from the coast but we can still bring the excitement of the seaside to the city. I encourage everybody to come along, have a splashing good time and enjoy what the wonderful city of Wakefield has to offer."
