Council encourages people to 'get on yer bike'
Wakefield Council is encouraging people to cycle for fun, fitness and for life as a part of upcoming cycling events.
Cllr David Dagger, Wakefield Council's Cabinet member for Culuture, Sport and Libraries, said: "We are continuing to work with partners to provide cycling opportunities across the district.
"Interest in cycling amongst our residents is growing and we are receiving great feedback from participants. The ride programme for this year will continue throughout summer and I urge everyone to get involved."
The Council, in partnership with British Cycling, is offering a programme of led rides in the district. The next two rides are on Sunday June 1 at Fickley Country Park and Sunday June 8 at Nostell Priory.
The Fickley Country Park skyride is an easy going ride ideal for families and starts at 10am whilst Nostell Priory is a steady ride providing more of a pace and begins at 10.15am.
Other rides are also taking place as a part of the Wakefield District Cycle Forum on Sunday June 1 at Pugneys Country Park beginning at 10.15am and Saturday May 31 at Anglers Country Park starting at 10.15am lasting four hours and covering 21 miles.
