Residents are being asked to take part in the Knottingley and Ferrybridge Masterplan consultation – either online, by sending a letter, via email or by making a phone call.

A series of events that were due to be held this week as part of the consultation have been cancelled after considering the very latest Government coronavirus guidance and with cases on the rise.

Residents will still be able to have their say, by going online, where they can view the document that sets out a clear vision for how the Knottingley and Ferrybridge area will develop and grow. They can leave a comment by  writing a letter, sending an email or making a phone call to  share their views.

Cllr Darren Byford, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration at Wakefield Council, said: "I recognise that some people will be disappointed that we've had to cancel these events. But with cases of Covid-19 on the rise, we must consider everyone's wellbeing. There's plenty of time for people to have their say, as the consultation will, as planned, continue online. I would urge everyone to take a look at the ideas for the future of Knottingley and Ferrybridge.

"We are very ambitious for all our towns in the district and as we plan for the economic recovery of our district from coronavirus, please get involved, let us know your thoughts on the Masterplan with its focus on the growth and development for the area."

The Masterplan sets out the future of the town centre, residential and business land uses. Delivery of the Masterplan will be very much a partnership approach with the Council, developers and partner organisations all working together to ensure significant private sector investment happens and much needed employment opportunities materialise.

The Council tried to consult with residents in March but because of the coronavirus pandemic it wasn't possible to hold events at that time either.

Plans are now online and people can fill out an online questionnaire or download a copy at before 16 October.

Or they can contact or call 0113 397 1397 with any comments. Or, written comments can be sent to:
