Council registration services set to restart
Wakefield Council’s registration service is to re-start the registration of births and notices of marriages and civil partnerships from Monday 29 June at Wakefield Town Hall.
Initially, the registration of babies will start with infants who are over 80 days old and will be by appointment only to limit the number of people attending at once.
Couples who need to give notice of marriage and civil partnership will be scheduled in stages, starting with those whose ceremonies have been planned in July, August and September and who have a venue booked for the ceremony.
Cllr Michael Graham, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding since we had to halt these services back in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
“We are slowly starting to return to a new normality and although this will take time, our staff are working really hard to get up to date as soon as possible.
“We have taken measures to ensure that our premises are safe for residents and staff and ask everyone to follow Government guidelines on social distancing when visiting.”
Information on how to make an appointment can be found on the Council website at www.wakefield.gov.uk/births-marriages-deaths
Information about registering the birth of infants who are younger than 80 days old will follow.
