Cabinet changes for remainder of 2019/20
Cllr Denise Jeffery has made changes to the Cabinet
Member positions following her new appointment as Council Leader last month.
Cllr Jeffery has reviewed some of the existing
Cabinet portfolios to ensure that her team is focussed on the key priorities of
the Council and its residents.
Deputy Leader, Cllr Hemingway, will take on the
newly established remit of Cabinet Member for Climate Change to help drive
forward the Council’s commitment to become carbon neutral. Cllr Hemingway will
now be supported by Cllr Blezard as deputy portfolio holder.
There will no longer be a separate portfolio
for Skills, Digital and Technology. Digital and Technology, alongside those
that were held in the previous Corporate Services portfolio, will now be
renamed Resources. Cllr Graham will take on this role, supported by Cllr
Carrington as his deputy. Skills will now be included in Cllr Byford’s
portfolio for Regeneration and Economic Growth.
Planning will move into the Highways portfolio.
Cllr Morley will be the Cabinet Member for Planning and Highways, and will also
lead on enforcement, supported by Cllr Dagger as his deputy.
Cllr Cummings will be taking on a
high profile lead role in the Council’s important work to tackle poverty, as
the Cabinet Member for Environment, Communities and Poverty.
Announcing the changes, Cllr Jeffery said: "Some changes have been made in our portfolios to reflect the way the Council is moving forward, to make sure that we are fully focussed on our key priorities.
"I am confident that together this Cabinet will provide the right mix of skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to serve the district well."
