Congratulations to Haribo on their sweet success
Wakefield Council has congratulated the Castleford-based confectionery company Haribo on their expansion which has led to the creation of more jobs in the district.
The company announced earlier that due to export success and a new agreement with the USA it is adding another 50 jobs to its 720-strong workforce. The additional staff will allow it to move from a two to three-shift system from early next year.
Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council
Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "This is indeed good news for this family-owned business which has made Castleford its UK manufacturing home. It's not only good news for the company but also for the district as our new Economic Strategy, designed to support the development of businesses, also generates more social value to ensure that our residents benefit from the business growth across the district.
"Congratulations to Jon Hughes and his team at Haribo whose ambitious plans and significant investment in their state-of-the-art plant are reaping success. I wish them a great success for the future.
"Haribo's success adds to that of another 32 companies in the district who were just named among the Top 500 by the Yorkshire Business Insider Magazine.
"This and other business successes within recent weeks clearly demonstrates that the district continues to punch above its weight and as a council, we will continue to provide the right type of business environment to help our companies grow and prosper."
