Wakefield Council appoints new mayor

​Cllr Charles Keith has been appointed as the Mayor of Wakefield.

​Cllr Keith represents Wrenthorpe and Outwood West ward. He began his working life as an apprentice gas fitter and is self-employed. He is being supported by his wife Grace as the Mayoress.

The Deputy Mayor is Cllr Tracey Austin who represents Wakefield North ward and is an Emergency Technician for Yorkshire Ambulance Service. She will be supported by her son Dwain Longley as her Consort. He works at Yorkshire Ambulance Service as Locality Manager and as a paramedic.

Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council, congratulated both Cllr Keith and Cllr Austin and wished them well for their term of office.

He said: "I hope they both enjoy their year in office and am sure they will represent the district with dignity and commitment."
