Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Members revealed for 2019/20
Wakefield Council's controlling Labour Group has again elected Cllr Peter Box CBE as Leader of the Group, ensuring he continues in his role as the Leader of Wakefield Council, a position he has held for over 20 years.
Changes to Cabinet Member positions have been proposed for 2019/20 as well as the addition of a new Cabinet role with a focus on Skills and Employment – a key area for the Council and the district. The changes are:
Cllr Michael Graham will be Cabinet Member for Skills and Employment, with Michelle Collins as his Deputy Cabinet Member.
Cllr Faith Heptinstall will become Cabinet Member for Adults and Health after Cllr Pat Garbutt stepped down from the role. Cllr Ros Lund will act as her deputy.
Cllr David Dagger will take up post as Deputy Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Cllr Lynn Masterman will become the Deputy Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport.

Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "I would like to welcome all the new members joining the Cabinet team. The challenging times continue but I am confident that the knowledge, enthusiasm and experience this team brings will serve the district and our residents very well.

The new Cabinet will be formally approved by Full Council at the Mayor-Making and Annual Council meeting on Thursday 23 May. The meeting will be live-streamed from 11.30am at www.wakefield.gov.uk/livestream
