Wakefield local elections results
Wakefield Council remains in overall Labour control following the results of the 2019 local council elections.
The overall turnout was 26.98%. The turnout in the 2018 local elections was 26.86%.
Labour held 14 of the 17 seats they were defending.
The Conservatives held all four of the seats they were defending.
The overall make-up of the Council is now as follows:
Labour 49 seats
Conservative 11 seats
Liberal Democrat 1 seat
Independent 2 seats
This year's election was for a third of seats across the Council - one in each of the 21 wards.
The count for contested parish elections is taking place on Friday, 3 May – results will be on the Council's website as they are announced.
