Together we're safer - meet the team

Wakefield Council’s Neighbourhood Patrollers are not walking our streets just to hand out fines for littering. They work with the police, businesses and residents to keep everyone safe.

Darren Nuttall, who features on our posters, says: “We really make a difference just by being out there – we help find missing people, identifying people breaking their anti-social behaviour orders or those wanted on a police warrant.” But it’s not all about crime - they also help people in need.

Simon Johnson, who is also a poster star, is proud of the work they do. “I have plenty of opportunities to help other people and to improve the environment. Because of our work, people are now aware that if they drop litter they will end up paying for it - I think this makes a real difference.”

Both Simon and Darren agree that Wakefield is a great place. Their one message is that everyone should help keep the district a safe and clean place to be proud of.
