The bin men of Wakefield are part of the council’s green team, keeping the streets clean and emptying bins across the district.

One of our poster stars, Graham Scholes, says:  “I like helping to keep the streets clean and it’s a job where we’re out and about so can make a difference. If I had one message to give to people it would be to recycle as much as possible - it saves them money and helps the environment!

Colleague Fred Wheeldon says: “I love my job and having a friendly team to work with.” He is proud of what he does as he says it helps to improve local areas. He too is keen to spread the recycling message. “Keep your streets clean and recycle what you can,” he says.

Refuse van driver Khalid Mahmood is the third face on our billboards. He is proud of what he does and most enjoys his job when he feels as though he and colleagues are making a real difference, keeping Wakefield cleaner greener and safer.
