Fund raising opportunity for charities
Ref: PR 2229
Date: 21/05/2009
Charities and voluntary organisations are being invited to raise money for their causes at a new monthly market.
Wakefield Council is launching the new market on the second Wednesday of each month beginning on July 8. It will be held in the open section of Wakefield’s new £3m market, which is next to the bus station in the city centre.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for culture, said: "This is a great way of helping support our local charities through these tough economic times as well as attracting more visitors to our market.
"We have some very worthwhile charities who make a real difference to the lives of so many people so I hope people will offer their support and visit this new, innovative market event."
Wakefield district charities and voluntary organisations are welcome to apply for a stall at the new Wednesday market at an introductory rate of £11.50 a stall, including VAT. For further information please contact Merrill Diplock on 01924 305306.
