Drama launches anti-social behaviour DVD

A drama event to launch an educational DVD about anti-social behaviour is being held at Airedale High School's theatre later this month.
The DVD is part of the Council's Cleaner Safer Wakefield project which works with schools on issues around anti-social behaviour, the environment and recycling.
Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment Cllr Clive Hudson said: "The short film involves the young people of the district and helps to illustrate the consequences of those issues for our communities. At the same time it shows what the Council and our partners are doing about these issues with a major emphasis on encouraging pupils to take more pride in their own, and others, neighbourhoods."
The 12 minute film also includes sections from Wakefield District Housing, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Yorkshire Police and has already been successfully trailed in a number of schools and public events this year. It will now be rolled out across the district.
It will be officially launched on 17 November at Airedale High School when drama pupils will present a play called ASBO in the school's new lecture theatre.
Pupils from Minsthorpe Community College took part in the filming and will be at the event to watch the completed DVD for the first time.
The Council's Cabinet Member responsible for Community Safety and partnerships Cllr Olivia Rowley said: "We're committed to making the whole district a desirable place to live, work and visit and we can only do that with everyone's help. Working with young people on this project and taking it around schools is a good way to show the affects of anti-social behaviour and environmental crime and we hope it will help prevent these kinds of issues in the future."
Airedale High School was set on fire in 2006 and the new-build facilities, including the new lecture theatre, were opened this academic year.
