Success for Wakefield’s Tourist Information Centre

Wakefield Tourist Information Centre (TIC) has scooped a prestigious Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Award. The White Rose Awards are the biggest regional tourism awards in the UK.
The TIC team won gold in the Visitor Information award category.
The team, who pride themselves on offering a top class level of service to all customers, were thrilled to be bringing back this highly regarded award to Wakefield.
Cllr Peter Box, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "Congratulations to the Wakefield Tourist Information Centre on this great achievement. And further congratulations to The Hepworth Wakefield on their award success and to finalist The Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
“Our Tourist Information Centre is a focal point in the city and provides an invaluable service in not only helping residents and visitors, but in promoting the area and letting people know how many great things there are to see and do in the Wakefield district.”
Wakefield TIC has not only scooped this prestigious accolade, but will now also be entered into the national tourism awards next year.
The Tourist Information Centre was not the only award winning Wakefield team, The Hepworth, Wakefield won the Art and Culture Award. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park was also a finalist for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year and the Art and Culture Award.
The winners were announced at a glittering award ceremony last night at Elland Road's Centenary Pavilion in Leeds.
