Dragon Day at Sandal Castle

Ref: PR 3099
Date: 20/07/2011

Little dragons will be causing lots of mischief at Sandal Castle this summer.

The secretive Sandal dragons have started getting very careless, and have been leaving some evidence of their adventures amongst the castle ruins. See if you can find the clues – maybe you will even manage to spot a real life dragon hiding in their den!

Dragon Day on Thursday August 4 has all sorts of fun for children and families to enjoy, with plenty of dragon-themed craft activities.

Some of the activities are outside so sensible shoes, warm clothes and waterproofs are worth taking – just in case!

Cllr David Dagger, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, said: “Sandal castle is an interesting day out for everyone and Dragon Day is a great excuse to bring along friends and family to join in the fun. With its own secret dragon’s den and activities to keep the children entertained all day, there is no better time to visit.”

Dragon Day runs from 1-4pm and is a drop-in event, so you can arrive at any time, and stay for as long as you like.

The event will be held at Sandal Castle in the Visitors’ Centre and also the outdoor grounds.  Booking is not required.
