Roadworks will temporarily change Westgate from dual to single carriageway during off-peak times next week.

The lane closures will take place between 9.30am and 3pm from Monday May 25 to Friday May 29, at the Maudline Bridge, close to the junction with Chald Lane.

To keep disruption to an absolute minimum, the roadworks have been timed to coincide with the school holidays.

The works are associated with the Environment Agency’s Flood Alleviation Scheme and are intended to reduce disruption when a new culvert under Westgate is constructed as part of the Ings Beck FAS Scheme later in the year.

The scheme will help protect properties and major infrastructures in the city centre and surrounding areas.
