Wakefield Libraries making a noise about music voucher competition.

Ref: PR1901
Date: 28/08/08

Young readers ready to rock are being given the chance to get their hands on a music voucher.

Wakefield Libraries are running a competition for people aged 11 to 19 to win a £40 voucher for Trad Music which can be spent on anything from drum lessons to instruments.

To have a chance of winning, all you have to do is join the library and borrow any three items from books, CDs or DVDs. This offer is open to existing members too.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council's deputy leader and cabinet member for culture, said: "The competition is completely free to enter and there is no cost for borrowing books.

"This is just one of the things that our libraries are doing to celebrate the National Year of Reading 2008 and it's great to support young people in becoming more creative.

"You never know, this could help start one young person on the road to musical stardom."

The competition starts on September 1 and the closing date is October 31.

All of the district's libraries also offer internet access for free and to find out more, log on to www.wakefield.gov.uk/libraries - see related links
