Judged by Ofsted as an Outstanding Provider of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) - grade 1 in all categories

The Wakefield Partnership for Initial Teacher Training (WPITT) is a partnership of high performing Wakefield schools delivering high quality employment based Teacher Training to meet both the needs of Wakefield schools whilst tapping into local graduate talent and high calibre career changers.

Competition for places is fierce and as an Outstanding Provider of ITT this will increase further, WPITT sets the bar high in order to accept the very best of recruits to its GTP.

WPITT is an employment based ITT provider (EBITT) delivering a high quality programme where training is spent in Lead and Second Placement schools for the year. Graduate trainees follow an individual training programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Successful recruits are employed by the Lead school and paid on the Point 1 of the Unqualified Teacher Scale for the duration of their training (please see TDA website for salary details). Trainees become members of the teaching staff and are never perceived as students by pupils and parents.

WPITT is a fully accredited ITT provider conferring Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to successful graduate trainees.  WPITT is subject to allocation of training placements by the Training and Development Agency (TDA).

Applicants are invited for the following subject/phase with at least a 2:2 degree classification:

  • Secondary – for this extra recruitment, only the subjects of Mathematics and Modern Languages

Note: If you would like to train to teach in the secondary phase you must have at least 50% of your degree in your chosen specialist subject.

Please see "Downloads" for information on "Tips for writing a supporting statement to accompany your application".

WPITT takes full responsibility and is accountable to Ofsted for the design and delivery of the training programme which enables trainees to progress against the QTS standards. As part of this training programme, WPITT provides a wide range of training opportunities for WPITT partners and trainees.

Note:
The TDA for Schools will close on 31 March 2012. On 1 April 2012 the Teaching Agency, one of four new Department for Education (DfE) agencies, will be formed. The new executive agency will be responsible for ensuring the supply of high quality teachers and training, and for teacher regulation.
