Housing aid at the Springs Advice Centre offers advice and advocacy on housing, debt, and benefits.
Our areas of work include dealing with tenancy problems, disrepair, harassment and unlawful eviction, mortgage and rent arrears, dealing with debt, entitlement to benefits. We offer representation in the County Court for mortgage and rent arrears, and at Social Security (all subject to availability).
We also run Lay Advocacy Schemes at Wakefield and Pontefract County Courts (at Wakefield and Pontefract for mortgage repossession cases, and at Wakefield only for private sector and housing association repossessions)

We are only able to interview clients by appointment unless they are in a defined urgent situation, such as having a Warrant of Possession due to be enforced within 24 hours or being harassed by a landlord.

We are no longer able to offer advice on employment rights problems, or to fill in forms. Our drop-in sessions at The Springs Advice Centre are currently unavailable. We will continue to see people by appointment, or you may speak to an adviser by telephone, at one of our outreach sessions, or make contact by letter or email.

Hemsworth Community Initiative
Unfortunately, the Hemsworth Community Initiative closed at the end of September 2011. We are no longer able to run our outreach session there. We are currently reviewing our outreach provision and are considering operating a new outreach in the South East of Wakefield District at some point in the future.
