The Private Sector Housing Team carry out inspections of rented properties to ensure that they meet acceptable standards. All types of rented property may be subject to inspection including self-contained flats, single houses and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).
We will carry out an inspection of a property using the ‘Housing Health and Safety Rating’ (HHSRS), to evaluate the potential risks to healthy and safety from deficiencies identified. We will then consider the best course of action to remedy the defects identified, given a range of action available to the Council under the Housing Act 2004.
