The Open Door Project is a Council initiative for people who are homeless or in need. In recognition for the services the project provides the Government awarded the Council Regional Homelessness Champions Status in 2006/07 and has appointed it as a Regional Centre of Excellence for Youth Homelessness in 2007/09.
Open Door Project aims
- To provide advice, assistance and support to prevent homelessness.
- To provide temporary/emergency accommodation to those who we have a statutory duty to house.
- To provide a safe temporary living environment with access to resettlement support.
- To provide support to people to enable them to live independently in their own, permanent accommodation.
- To provide adaptations to people's homes to help them live independently.
