Open Door Project

The Open Door Project is a Council initiative for people who are homeless or in need. In recognition for the services the project provides the Government awarded the Council Regional Homelessness Champions Status in 2006/07 and has appointed it as a Regional Centre of Excellence for Youth Homelessness in 2007/09.

Open Door Project Aims

  1. To provide advice, assistance and support to prevent homelessness.
  2. To provide temporary/emergency accommodation to those who we have a statutory duty to house.
  3. To provide a safe temporary living environment with access to resettlement support.
  4. To provide support to people to enable them to live independently in their own, permanent accommodation.
  5. To provide adaptations to people's homes to help them live independently.
