What if my circumstances change?

If your circumstances change, you must tell us. If you don’t, it may mean you are losing out on money you are entitled to, or you could be being paid too much.

A change in your circumstances could include:

  • You start or lose a job
  • Someone moves in or out
  • You move to a different address
  • You start or stop receiving other benefits
  • Any other change to your income or capital

These are just a few examples. If you are unsure if your change will affect your benefit, or want to know how a change would affect you – why not find out using our online Benefit Calculator

How do I report a change?

In person

Visit us at our reception, Civic Centre, Castleford or your local WDH Service Access Point.

Or alternatively we can visit you. Call us on 0845 8 504 504 to arrange a suitable time.

You will need to tell us what your change is and when it happened.

Change not happened yet? That’s ok - just tell us what the change is and when it is likely to happen. We can confirm it with you later.

Don’t forget to give us any other information you think might be useful.

It may be that we have to temporarily stop your benefit payments while we look at your entitlement again. We only do this to make sure we don’t pay you too much. If you are paid too much, we may ask you to pay this back.
