Your Voice provides one to one support to people with a learning disability and/or autism living in the Wakefield district, so that individuals are able to make their own choices and to express their own views.
The project offers different ranges of advocacy support all of which are available free of charge, including:
- crisis advocacy (issue focused advocacy);
- long-term advocacy (through a citizen scheme)
- self-advocacy
Your Voice is welcomes referrals from professionals, family carers and encourages self-referrals. We aim to visit the individuals referred to the project within one week in order to explain what advocacy is, discuss their support needs and inform the individuals about the possible waiting time.
What is advocacy? - see 'Downloads' for our Guide to Advocacy
