Children's Residential Homes

Young people sitting on a bench

We have a number of children's residential homes which care for young people.

Each residential care home is required by law to have a Statement of Purpose which describes the function and philosophy of the children's residential home.

  • Benson Lane and Dacre Avenue are community homes providing a long term or permanent place for young people to live.
  • Wasdale provides short term breaks for children who have a learning disability and/or physical disability or sensory impairment.
  • York Villas is a residential home for children and young people of both sexes who are between the ages of 8 and 18 and who have learning, physical or sensory disabilities.

Statement of Purpose

A Statement of Purpose explains in detail the overall purpose of a children's residential home and also describes the following:

  • the aims and objectives
  • the values
  • rights and responsibilities
  • facilities provided
  • staffing details
  • and more.

The Statement of Purpose for Benson Lane, Wasdale, York Villas and Dacre Avenue can be viewed in 'Downloads'.
