Child Well Being Project and Common Assessment Framework

These pages will bring you news of any new developments with the Child Well Being project and help you understand Common Assessment.

The Child Well Being Model is an inter agency project in which we work together to provide children/young people and their families with the most appropriate services to safeguard children and to promote their well being.

The Child Well Being Model is unique to Wakefield, it covers all children/young people from the provision of universal services to those who have additional, special needs and those in need of protection. It is a preventative model of good practice and meets the governments requirements outlined in 'Every Child Matters'.

The Common Assessment Framework for Children and Young People (CAF) is a shared assessment tool across agencies in England. It can help practitioners to develop a shared understanding of a child's needs, so they can be met more effectively. It will avoid children and families having to re-tell their story. This  has to be implemented across all agencies locally and across 150 local authority nationally.

You can access guidance on how and when to complete an common assessment, how to identify a lead professional and when to call a Child Well Being Meeting by going to the different links below.
