Training

The following CAF training courses are available for practioners across all disciplines who are involved in the CAF process.

CAF Model Course 

This one day training course will provide practitioners or managers a basic understanding of how to use Common Assessment Framework Model effectively in practice.  It will also provide guidance on completing the CAF Model documentation including the Common Assessment.   It will give practitioners or managers an understanding of the role of the Lead Professional as well as when and how to call a CAF Meeting. 

Chairing Skills 

This training course will provide practitioners with the skills to chair multi-agency meetings.  It will also give practitioners an understanding of CAF Meeting procedures and roles and responsibilities. 

The Common Assessment Virtual Learning Package    

This e-learning package has been designed to complement the existing awareness raising programme which is delivered by the CAF Co-ordinators and CAF Champions.

This basic awareness course is made up of four learning objects which meet the objectives of integrated working: The Common Assessment Framework (CAF), Information Sharing, the role of the Lead Professional and Contact Point.

This course is suitable for anyone who comes into contact with children, young people and their families during the course of their work.

This fully interactive course can be accessed anywhere you have access to the Internet and can be completed at a pace place and time to suit you. It is available to all agencies free of charge.

New CAF team training courses

We have developed three new training courses reflecting the changing needs of practitioners, services and partner agencies. These courses will give further guidance and support to practitioners completing CAF’s, leading to more comprehensive completion of CAF’s and improved outcomes for all children and families. 

The courses cover a number of skill areas including Engaging Young People in CAF process, exploring ways to Engaging Hard to Reach Families in the CAF process and encourage ongoing involvement. To compliment these we are offering a course in Good Assessment and SMART Planning, which will develop effective assessments and S.M.A.R.T. plans giving insight into effective planning across all areas.
