Wakefield Council has within its boundary seven care homes currently under the ownership of Southern Cross.

Southern Cross is currently progressing agreements to transfer of all of its care homes to new operators.

Currently Southern Cross plan to transfer the services to new care operators in two waves which are the 30 September 2011 and 31 October 2011. This is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals being obtained and therefore may change.

The council will continue to play its part to ensure a smooth transition for all residents and will work with the care providers to ensure the needs of residents continue to be met.
