The Signpost - resources for adults with learning disabilities and their carers

Pointing carers in the right direction of services for adults with learning disabilities and their carers in Wakefield.

The aim of 'The Signpost' is to help you find your way around the range of different services and support available to adults with learning disabilities and their carers in the Wakefield district.

We have put this guide together in direct response to carers telling us that finding out about services and support can be difficult. We hope that this guide will make it easier for you to find information to help support the person you care for, and understand how the services in Wakefield link together.

To the best of our knowledge, the information in this pack is correct at the time of printing (February 2010). However, information often changes and it can be very difficult to compile a guide that is completely up to date.

The different sections in this guide are:

    • Section 1 – Carers and support in the community
    • Section 2 – Finances and benefits
    • Section 3 – Rights and complaints
    • Section 4 – Healthcare
    • Section 5 – Education, employment and leisure
    • Section 6 – Emergency care, housing and holidays
    • Section 7 – Transport
    • Section 8 – Speaking up
    • Section 9 – Directory

Please see 'Downloads' for the complete document or for separate copies of each section.
