Adult Placement Service

What we do

  • We offer planned periods of care in an Adult Placement Carers own home. This is available for people with learning disabilities, and/or physical disabilities, mental health needs and older people.
  • Short and long term breaks. This can mean an overnight stay or up to one to two weeks. Occasionally it may be longer.
  • Individual support, supervision and encouragement.
  • Consistency of care.
  • Opportunities to acquire new interests and experiences while encouraging greater independence.
  • Help with personal care if needed.
  • Care in a homely environment.
  • An important feature of the Adult Placement Service is the matching of Carers and the people who use the service to ensure that the placement is successful.  People are given the opportunity of visiting the prospective Adult Placement Carers home before deciding if they wish to stay with them.

What it costs

There is a charge for this service and people using it will pay an amount from their benefit or pension.

If you wish to use the Adult Placement Service contact your social worker or Social Care Direct 0845 8 503 503 who will help you apply.
