Recycling can help to save energy and resources
- Reuse - using products again in their current form for the same purpose or another use e.g. “Bags for Life” from the supermarket.
You can help by:
- Try composting your fruit and vegetable waste along with your garden waste in a home composter.
- Use your green recycling box for tins, cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars.
- Use your brown garden waste bin to recycle grass cuttings, leaves, flowers and plants.
- Use you paper recycling bin to recycle all your newspapers, magazines and cardboard.
- Use the Household Waste Recycling sites to recycle larger items and things you can’t recycle in at home like juice cartons.
- Take your old electrical equipment back to shop you bought it from, they have a legal obligation to recycle it for you - see WEEE . Or take it to your nearest Household Recycling site.

Donate left-over paint to your local charity. To find your nearest scheme visit www.communityrepaint.org.uk

Donate your unwanted clothes to your local charity. Oxfam will give you a £5 voucher if you take any Marks & Spencer item to them with the labels still on, you can then use it to purchase a new item from M & S if you spend over £35.

Polythene wrappers and bags from magazines and newspapers can be recycled if you post them to Polyprint at your own expense.

Recycle old curtains or exchange them at the Curtain Exchange.
And remember to choose to buy recycled products when you can. Look out for products made from recycled materials such as:
- stationery
- paper
- black sacks
- toilet paper
