W

Wood and timberWhite Goods i.e. washers, dryers, washing machines and cookers

  • Reuse – white goods that are still in good working order can be reused or alternatively arrange a bulky household waste collection. 
  • Ask electrical retailers to remove old item when they deliver the new one. (see WEEE regulations)
  • Buy appliances with A+ Efficiency rating.

Wardrobes

  • Reuse – take stand-alone wardrobes to a charity or second hand shop.  
  • Alternatively, you can take them to the Household Waste Recycling Centre or arrange a bulky collection.
  • You can take Fitted Wardrobes to a Household Waste Recycling Centre or arrange a skip from the Council. Unfortunately, we cannot collect these on a bulky household waste collection as they are classed as fixtures and fittings. 

Wood

  • Recycle - wood and chipboard can be taken to any Household Waste Recycling Centre 

Wool

  • Reuse - some charity shops, community groups and residential homes will accept wool.
