Vans, Pick-ups and Trailers

If you own a van, pick-ups or trailer larger than 6' x 4', you will need to get a 'commercial' permit before you are able to dispose of any household waste at our Household Waste Recycling Centres.

This 'commercial' permit will allow you to use your van or pick up on up to 12 visits per year free of charge

How to get a commercial permit

To get a 'commercial' permit you will need to show the following documents at the Wakefield Recycling Centre:

  • Vehicle registration details
  • Proof of residency – such as a council tax statement or recent utility bill

Company Vans and Pick-ups

If you have use of a company van or pick up to dispose of your household waste, you will also need a 'commercial' permit.  To get a 'commercial' permit you will need to show the following documents at the Wakefield Recycling Centre:

  • Letter of company authorisation
  • Proof of residency – such as a council tax statement or recent utility bill

Van hire

If you have hired a van to dispose of your household waste e.g. when moving house, you will also need a 'commercial' permit. To get a 'commercial' permit you will need to show the following documents at the Wakefield Recycling Centre:

  • Hire agreement
  • Proof of residency – such as a council tax statement or recent utility bill
  • You can not dispose of DIY Waste or bricks, rubble and soil in a hire van

Trailers - 6’ x 4’ or smaller

  • You can use these trailers as you would a normal car. 

Trailers – larger than 6’ x 4’

  • Require a 'commercial' permit - see above
  • Restricted to 12 visits per year
