A Home Energy Rating will tell you how energy efficient your home is. It will provide you with two scores:-
- one out of 100, which is the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) rating, and
- one out of 10 which is the National Home Energy Rating (NHER).
It will also tell you how much carbon dioxide your home emits and what you can do to improve your home energy efficiency, how much it will cost and how much energy and money it will save .
Since 14 December 2007 every home put on the market, no matter what size, must have a Home Information Pack (HIP) which includes a home energy rating. It brings together valuable information at the start of the process - such as a sale statement, local searches and evidence of title - which could save you money, time and stress. The Pack also includes an Energy Performance Certificate that contains advice on how to cut CO2 emissions and fuel bills.
