Wakefield Cold Homes Action Project (CHAP)

CHAP is a multi-agency project that provides help to private households, across the Wakefield district, at risk of the effects of cold winter temperatures. CHAP is a cold home ‘outreach referral’ project where frontline workers, particularly voluntary sector workers, identify ‘at risk’ private households and refer them for help from a ‘cold homes help package’. The assistance available, which is all free, is designed to help people be warmer and safer this winter, whilst improving home energy efficiency and tackling fuel poverty.

The four month project, running January to April 2012, has been made possible by a successful bid by the Council to the government’s ‘Warm Homes Healthy People’ (WHHP) fund. The project is coordinated by Wakefield Council’s Home Energy Team and delivered in partnership with a range of frontline organisations and follows a successful bid to the WHHP.

CHAP is open to referrals from 9 January 2012 and will close on 30 April 2012.

The CHAP referral form and reference sheet are available for project partners (see 'Downloads').

Referral forms can be sent by email to eat@wakefield.gov.uk or faxed to 01924 306325.
