Wakefield Low Carbon Communities
The Wakefield Low Carbon Communities scheme provides real home energy efficiency improvements and other well bring assistance to residents across the District.
Lead by Wakefield Council, Wakefield Low Carbon Communities 2011/12 is being delivered in partnership with Wakefield Council Welfare Rights, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, White Rose Credit Union, Yorkshire Energy Services and Premier Insulation.
The way the scheme works is that households are targeted with a special package of free loft and cavity wall insulation, as well as other useful services including fire safety visits, credit union information and energy efficiency advice.
The 2011/12 Wakefield Low Carbon Communities Scheme Phase 1 targeted private households in Ryhill, Havercroft, Upton and North Elmsall. Phase 2 targeting Normanton and Featherstone private households started on 5 September. These households will receive letters explaining more about the Scheme and some households may also receive a doorstep visit from a trained low Carbon Communities Assessors in September/October.
Free lift and cavity wall insulation is available in a ‘first come, first served’ basis as funding is strictly limited.
