Wakefield Energy Savers Loan

The Energy Savers Loan criteria has been opened-up which means more people across the district will be eligible to help save energy, money and the environment.

If you are looking to improve the energy efficiency of your home this winter the Wakefield Energy Savers Loan is here to help.

Funded by Wakefield Council and available through White Rose Credit Union, the Energy Savers Loan is an interest free loan that you can use to help pay for insulation, heating and microgeneration work in your home.

The Energy Savers Loan can be used to cover the cost of the following home energy efficiency improvement work:

  • Loft insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Solid wall insulation
  • Double glazing
  • Replacement boiler
  • Central heating system
  • Heating repairs
  • Solar photovoltaic panels (only as part of a package of insulation)
  • Solar thermal panels (only as part of a package of insulation)
  • Air source heat pumps

Loans are available up to a maximum of £7,000 over a repayment period of 5 years.

You can select your own reputable installer to do the work, however the Council may be able to help you find someone if required.

To apply you must be an owner-occupier and meet ONE of the following criteria:

  1. Be aged 60 or over
  2. Be in receipt of an income related benefit (excluding Child Tax Credit)
  3. Have a net household income of less than £15,050

If you do not meet ONE of the three criteria listed above you may also qualify by undergoing a simple application assessment by our Loans Officer.
