Dog wardens

Dog wardens are here to enforce various laws regarding dogs, stray dogs, dangerous dogs and dog fouling to improve the environment and tackle anti-social behaviour.

  • Microchipping
  • Neutering
  • Issue fixed penalty notices for dog fouling offences
    enforcing the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996
  • Patrol the district seizing stray dogs under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 - Control of Dogs Order 1992.
  • Return stray dogs, where identifiable and practical, to their owners or take them to appointed kennels. 
  • Seize any dangerous and out-of-control dogs in public places under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
