How much will neutering cost?

This is a matter that you must discuss with your veterinary surgeon. Cost depends on the size of your dog and whether it is male or female. As a rough guide, in the UK dogs cost in the region of £80-£100 for a bitch and £40-£60 for a dog.

The Dog Warden Service in conjunction with the Dogs Trust and the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) are able to offer neutering vouchers to members of the public who receive means tested benefits. Means tested benefits include

  • income support,
  • job seekers allowance,
  • housing benefit,
  • incapacity benefit or
  • old age pension

The neutering/spaying operation is carried out at one of the numerous participating veterinary centres in the Wakefield area, at a cost of £25.
